Thrifting Thursday
I went wild today! Spring is here.
It’s still drops below 40 some evenings but it won’t be long.
My tulips are close to opening.
I was hoping the black was cotton but it’s a blend. I will use it on a hanger to pin quilt project pieces to.
I got 3 punches, a load of fun scrapbooking paper and 5 project containers.
I’ve been searching and searching for a stamp this size for background images and then I got an ink pad as well a great size for this large stamp. Yay!
What I didn’t purchase. An item that brings back childhood memories. My dad made root beer and used one of these to cork the bottles. We then put it under the stairs down in the basement where the canned tomatoes, green beans, pickles and peaches were kept.
The best part of thrifting is the memories of childhood that come back.
We finished off the evening with a family gathering with friends at the studio. I fell in love with this mustard! Oh yum.

Fabric Score at the Thrift
These two fabrics will be great in the Economy Blocks quilt.
I want to make this quilt. Lydia made hers with dot fabrics!
It is larger scale and will be great in the colorwash quilt.
The red and white polka dots will be great for additional mushrooms and the greens for the chevrons and log cabins.
The blue fabrics will go great in Kawandi II
I see more quilts in my future!

To buy or not to buy
I did not purchase this although I thought about it all that night and went back the next day… and it was gone. It’s ok. I snapped a photo of a sweet vintage fabric.
I did go home and came across some scrap blocks I already had.
These two blocks are going into the inside cover of a journal I am putting together following K3N.clothtales on YouTube.
Each week she has a video teaching techniques she enjoys.

Quilting in January
I started two new projects in January.
The 2nd project was a challenge by Taryn @reproquiltlover in 2023.
I took this pic and then realized I wanted the blocks on point so today I did this…
Of course I worked on my other projects as well.
3 blocks were already done. I made two more blocks, decided on the green due to a large enough scrap of fabric and then fell in love when I came across the border for the top and bottom. It all came together nicely. I am hand quilting it.
Filled with all the little shavings.

What a wonderful Christmas
I did get the tree up Christmas Eve.
I made a grazing table.
I was able to use my Pyrex.
We got the IKEA shelves back up last weekend after a kitchen remodel 2 years ago.

Tree Quilt
I have 3 bins of Christmas fabric so I imagine this quilt top will grow and grow.
This is an exchange project from a few years back.
I have been collecting photo frame Christmas ornaments for many years. I have two popcorn tins full of them.
This year for my birthday my family bought me a photo printer. I now need to make some photo prints to fill these ornaments.
I am not going to put up a tree until I have these frames all filled.
I had a tooth capped today and the pain was excruciating. I cried and I never cry.
Update: The tooth woke me up at 5a so I made a few more trees.
I have enough background fabric for 12 more trees. Yay!

Christmas Trees
I don’t have my tree up yet but… my sister has about 20 of them.
She has a…
And a…
And a…
All in the livingroom.
In the entryway there is a…
In honor of her daughter and son-in-law
And yes there are more trees they just weren’t finished yet for our cookie baking weekend.

Our first Christmas card
Our first card came in the mail today. A red truck with a tree and sled in the back.
I got some bins out of cold storage today and brought them home. The snow person was painted by my heavenly mother. Back in 2010 the bird broke off and she put it back on and added some ceramic snow around it.
The advent calendar tree I thrifted years ago. It says c.2005. Each box has a little gift or a note to a book to read, craft project to do, photo suggestion, etc. We also write on a piece of paper something we did that day either together as a family or for another family and we place that back in the box.
I spent the weekend at my sister’s baking cookies and enjoying my nieces and nephews and their spouses and children. We ranged from 5 days old to 86 years young.
I cut 1” squares in red and green and did a little hand sewing. I enjoyed seeing one of the stars on my aunt’s kitchen counter.
The one Kay has is the one on the top right corner with the zigzag stripes.
It was such a nice weekend but I am exhausted.
